The first weekend of August marked the third NYR Organic national sales conference I attended since 2009. This year’s conference was held in Boston at a hotel overlooking the harbor. I’m still thinking about the many wonderful things I learned about Neal’s Yard Remedies from the very dedicated and eloquent UK staff.
The relationships the company has with raw material suppliers is amazing. Medical Director Susan Curtis gave a fascinating presentation on a trip she took earlier this year to visit suppliers in Morocco, Turkey and Provence.
Neal’s Yard Remedies sources French Lavender from one of 2,000 farmers in Provence. Growing and harvesting the lavender flowers, then distilling them into essential oil is a family effort. The company also works with a Rose (Rosa Damascena) cooperative in Turkey who provide the rose otto and absolute used in so many of our products. In the video below, Susan Curtis recounts her recent trip to Morocco to visit the 40 women who pick orange flower blossoms and create the neroli essential oil used in our Orange Flower line (for dry skin).
In honor of the London Olympics, August Specials include a trio of star products for 20% off: Wild Rose Beauty Balm, Beauty Sleep Concentrate and Frankincense facial oil.
